The DOW is not closed. The DOW is an average, which is either up or down, but never open or closed.

I presume you mean the American Financial Markets (the New York Stock Exchange and NASDAQ/AMEX). They are both closed today in observance of President's Day, which in the United States commemorates the birthdays of two of our more well-known presidents, George Washington and Abraham Lincoln.

Today is a federal holiday commonly called President's Day but officially George Washington's birthday. Many states used to observe Feb 12th as Abraham Lincoln's birthday and Feb 22 as George Washington's birthday. but Congress passed a law that made the third Monday in February as the day that George Washington's birthday would be observed.

that is hard to argue the economic device is in the sh*tter while the inventory industry is doing so nicely. regardless of the undeniable fact that, there are massive issues lurking forward. For one, the Fed's Qualitative Easing software is only approximately executed - so the improve that gave the economic device is completed, however the hangover is only beginning (extreme oil and commodity expenses, inflation on the uncooked components point). additionally, Europe's issues are going to start to be substantial right here even greater desirable than they are. The economic device is growing to be greater valuable than final 300 and sixty 5 days, particularly slowly regardless of the undeniable fact that that's growing to be. I anticipate the inventory industry to have a 5% to eight% correction in the subsequent month or so. Then with a bit of luck we are able to have fun while we hit Dow 13000 lower back six months from now, and have it stick that element.
