If a crime was committed, then yes, I'm sure the hospital will call the police.
If you just hurt yourself by thinking that you were a superhero or something, then probably not, but then again, I don't smoke the stuff, and never have, so perhaps it is possible.

How did pot cause an emergency room visit? I'd really like to hear that one! Was it a bad case of paranoia?
True, the doctor/patient confidentiality is applicable and the Doc should only contact police if a person is injured or a crime (aside from smoking pot) is suspected.
However, if a patient admits smoking pot or if he tests positive, that can be listed in medical records, which can be subpoenaed in court. This still won't lead to arrest, but it can let the cat out of the bag.

Actually you can OD on weed and it has only happend.....once to my knowledge its called Cannabis Toxicity it ihappens when your body has high level of cannabinoids in the blood. Generally yes you do pass out before this can happen but people who built up a tolerance to this drug can suffer from this (Dont answer unless you know the facts) ...As to your other question no you cannot be arrested for being high unless you committed a crime..Its against the Docotors Hippocratic Oath....(All that may come to my knowledge in the exercise of my profession or in daily commerce with men, which ought not to be spread abroad, I will keep secret and will never reveal..)

Was there an accident following the smoking of, or did someone smoke too much? It's pretty hard to OD on weed. You'd pass out first.

i ask your self what you notice your self as doing in 10 or 2 a protracted time, after which you're able to ask your self how do you get there. If the plan involves no place to stay and bumming cigs you're on the main appropriate song. regardless of the undeniable fact that in case you prefer to own a house, motor vehicle, take holidays, purchase new outfits on a nicely-known foundation, then that's incredibly helpful to bypass with your father and mom plan. What you develop into is your decision, only wish you're pleased with what you get.

Unlikely, unless you have it in your possession. However, if the doctor feels that you are a danger to yourself, they COULD ask for police intervention. Unlikely, however. That said, if the doctor really hates pot, he COULD ask a police officer to come over and question you.
On the other hand, if you come in with a gun shot wound, the hospital is required to report this.

Well, I'm not sure what dumb stuff they were doing to manage to hurt themselves with weed, but most of the time they won't call the cops. That creates a disincentive to come to get help when you're injured.

Not unless you are found in possession of the substance.
If the hospital calls police because you told them you were smoking marijuana, you have the makings of a good lawsuit against the hospital.

No, that is a violation of the HIPAA law. Unless you have it in your possession and they find it, they cannot call the police.
I have dealt with cocaine, PCP, heroin, ill-gotten prescription pills, etc. and cannot call the law.
You're safe, if you don't get caught with it on you.

No. It is covered by doctor-patient confidentiality.....whoever that other guy is, I hate to tell him, but you can't OD on weed. You'll pass out first.
