i adjusted the clutch handle to suit my hands,by the adjuster 1 to 5 AND i made a minor ajustment on the clutch cable by turning the adjuster on the back of the handle.now it wont go into first or neutrul>so i readjusted,then it went into 1st and neutral but wont change up further than second gear..any thoughts/help..as i have been trying to get it right for ages now and its driving me mad

thanks all..when the bike is moving,i have 2nd,3rd,4th,5th,6th..but when i come to lights or to a stop i cant go into 1st or neutral.so i adjusted again,then i could find 1st and neutral but would not change up past 2nd gear into 3/4/5/6..,...weird

If the clutch works at all, it should be fine in any gear. Sounds like you may have developed a gearbox problem at the same time. I'd see a mechanic. Kawasakis do have a "Positive Neutral Finder" system, which might cause the symptoms you report if the clutch is badly adjusted, however, so you might just need to keep trying. I'd back off the adjusters all the way, and keep tightening it a half-turn at a time until it goes right.

Like Darren R said - Kawasakis have a transmission safety feature. The trani won't shift up past neutral if the bike is stationary. The countershaft has to be spinning. In other words, the bike has to be moving at a considerable speed.

erm if it's the same gearbox setup as on my zzr1200 it will not change into 2nd, 3rd, 4th, etc unless you are actually moving! it's designed so when you are stationary you can only get 1st or neutral
