What about the Iraq Study Group, also called the Baker-Hamilton Group? They also recommended bringing Syria and Iran in to help solve the problems in Iraq, and that group was hardly made up of liberals. Beside the conservative Republicans in the group -- James Baker, Sandra Day O'Connor, Lawrence Eagleburger, Ed Meese, Alan Simpson, Robert Gates, and Rudy Giuliani -- even some of the Democrats, such as William Perry and Charles Robb, were quite conservative, and the rest were hardly flaming liberals.

It makes perfect sense, from a purely practical, non-partisan standpoint, to bring Syria and Iran into the process. Do you really think either of them wants a chaotic state on their border? Both Iran and Syria have restive elements in their own populations, and chaos in one country can easily spill over into neighboring countries, and in fact already is. They have a huge interest in a stable Iraq, and although their interests may not exactly coincide with those of the US, that doesn't mean they can't prove instrumental in effecting a solution.

All the liberals want is just to fail in Iraq and appease Iran. They are only seeing trees not the whole forest.
