they weren't allowed to marry. hence "jump the broom" - that tradition was started by slaves so they could feel like they were married. some slave owners arranged marriages for their slaves, but they were not recognized by law, and any children from those marriages could be sold should the slave owner have chosen to do so (and many did).

Go back to school and crack the books. Your command of the English language is horrid.
Slaves were considered property. Marriage is a civil/religious ceremony.. Slaves could have "married" but they also could have been sold separately. Slaves were expected to breed, and often the master would choose with "buck" would be the breeder.
Separate housing was the norm for many large platation holders.
"back in the days" of slavery assumes many things that are foreign to today's society. But this being said, one culture still has a practice of enslavement, that is the muslim culture. Were women are property and non-muslims can be kidnapped and traded as property.
The muslims created the slave trade practices for the most part in the modern culture when mohammed and the ottomans reign in the mediterranean.
Go to school and learn, do not post questions that prove your ignorance. Stay in school. Learn to speak up, don't suck off the systems as this is another form of enslavement. Dependence in any form is slavery.

It's a misconception that they weren't allowed to do anything. They were. They lived in with their groups on large plantations, and had time off to be together etc.
Don't take this wrong, but there were more slave owners that were good to their slaves then bad. Good being understood that the overall situation of slavery is intolerable...but being as it was...there were good slave owners.
Many owners taught there slaves to read and write, brought them into their families and cared for them. If they wanted to marry...they did and with blessing of the plantation owners.
It's never right for one person to own another...no matter how good they treat them. But the perception that all slave owners were mean, horrible, people who beat their slaves and starved them is just plain untrue.

what you wrote has shocked me. the was allowed to do somethings. the reason the was allowed to marry was so the can produce kids to work for the lazy people back then. we need to learn to let things go but never let it happen again. it sickens me to know people are capable of holding other people in any kind of bondage. it's sick to think how people was treated then.

Slave traders bred their slaves like dogs. They would put two strong people together so that their children would be strong too. I can't believe how evil and greedy people are...

So they could reproduce and make more slaves and make the slave owners more money. It was all about money.

they were allowed to breed, because we needed more slaves, and a few concubines in the kitchen.
