Yes they should, although for me, I would just refuse them entry to our country. You see, if they were tried for high treason (an offense punishable by life imprisonment without parole - as hanging ceased to be a punishment for treason in 1998), then lets say the trial lasts 3-5 months, meaning a cost to the tax payer of around £20 million (don't forget the bleeding heart liberals would insist on legal aid also for these 'poor dis-illusioned youths') and then they are found guilty, costing the tax payers (you and me) a further £30,000 per year until they leave this mortal coil.

So whilst it would be very nice to bang them up - I would prefer them to be deported straight back to whence they came (where no doubt they will not have the same access to human rights legislation as they would here) and let them be dealt with there. Not perfect I know, but it's the best I got.

They should just not be allowed to come back. I think Islam is a great religion and have a lot of time for Muslims but training to be terrorists or saboteurs is just not cricket.
Learning how to blow things up is just wrong. I am sure a wise and pious Muslim knows the difference between defending their religion and killing innocent people. Back in the days of the Crusades the Islamic leader Saladin would send skilled doctors to treat the wounded people from both sides - that is the compassion I expect from Islam and not the awful acts Al Qaida instigates.
If someone trains to become an enemy of peace they should no be allowed into this country ever again. Britain is a great nation because we have so many great cultures and faiths living here but we don't need anybody who wants to kill people!

Yes. It's not a matter for emotion or political ranting. They commit treason and should be tried and punished for it.

I believe that there is also an offence of aiding and abbetting. This would mean that their friends and families will also be guilty if they knew about the treason and were complicit in helping the individual.

The Nazis would have won World War 2 if our grandfathers were as soft on traitors and anti-British behaviour as our current leaders are. Where would Al Qaida be then? (Interesting thought that... consider it please).

Any citizen who is known to have trained with the AL Qaida and was not born in this Country should have their citizenship revoked if they have that and then deported straight away no waiting for some so called human rights smart alec saying you cannot do that. It is the ordinary citizens of this country that suffer. Government officials who make some of these so called laws of the land have no real insight of the 'normal' British Citizen after all most are only trying to make a name for themselves.

We have not declared war on anyone to my knowledge, we have however declared that we will combat terrorism wherever we find it , as most of the countries have, in all countries there are people who rebel against whatever they think is not what they want, for what, they must have a mental block there, as for people leaving this country to fight in others , the thing that would concern me is if these people would fight against us in this country, some have openly declared that they will turn Britain into a Muslim state, there are areas in certain parts of out country where they are totally Muslim, soon like the Pakistan/ India separation of a nation divided through religion, as India and Pa kistan where all one once including Bangladesh we may have civil war here due to religion , people may say never , but history will perhaps in the future change that.

It is difficult to say we are at war with what is basically an idea rather than a nation. We are at war with the Iraqi and Afghan resistance fighters and if Britons sympathise with these resistance fighters then when they are captured they are freed because treason is a dead and redundant idea because of its association with the idiocies of the dark ages when you could be tried for treason for calling the king a prat.

The actual difficulty in dealing effectively with them is the lack of a clear law against this type of thing

Look up the definition of High Treason you moron before you decide to excite the knuckle draggers into a killing frenzy.
America is at war 'with Terror', and I wish Bush luck with that one; the retard!! We on the other hand are not 'at war with terror', we're just playing puppy dog to a foreign administration in the vain hope of getting a nice scratch behind the ear for being a good boy!

...and to all those that give the thumbs down.....hmm, Well??

High Treason:- ' Participating in a war against ones country, attempting to overthrow its government, and attempting to kill its head of state '

When was war declared? Sorry, i must have missed it!!

Yes, they are indeed traitors, and should be dealt with as such. On their return they should be arrested and tried and if they are found to be guilty of treason, then they should be hanged. I believe the death penalty is retained for and can be applied for acts of treason. Knowing though, what wimps our government are, they won`t hang them, they will be put into a centrally heated double glazed,T.V. in every cell, prison and will have a better standard of living than some of the patriotic honest hard working general public. It makes me so angry sometimes, that I want to spit !!

Hi Tony R ---Yes -- Treason is Treason and Puts the Lives of Thousands at Risk ---- But when we see Daily on Television and Read In the Media --- Evil so called "Religious Leaders" Preaching in their Mosques and so called Religious Centres Death to the Infidel - the Non Believer - Gay People (No - I,m Not) The Recruiting of Radicals to become "Suicide Bombers" - to Kill us and the Mad Deranged Bastards Kill their own , anyone and everyone else The Police Being Called "Racist" when Legitimately carrying out their Work - and our Nation Being called a "Police State" ---- Violation Notices being issued on Yahoo Q & A when voicing opinions on these Matters ---- It becomes more and more Obvious on a Daily Basis Just where our so called "Government" stands on the Matter of dealing with the Enemy Without and Within - Certainly not on the side of the Indigenous Population of Great Britain ....I wonder quite what the Adgenda of the "British Government" really is

the mozzie rag heads will be happy enough to collect d s s payments from the people of this country and any other benefits they can get their hands on.They should NEVER be allowed back into Britain. If they are cought back in this country after training and operating with a terrorist organisation against British troops and British interests They should be summarily tried and shot for committing acts of high treason against this country.Knowing, however, the gutless politicians and policies which this country has, they will advocate doing nothing to these scum lest we offend the mozzies returning from active service, fighting British troops.
