Nobody is hating on the Nigerians. But a few of your kind HAVE given you a bad name. In fact.....I went to China for three years to teach English. There was a group of us. Some Kenyans, some Nigerians, some Tanzanians, some Canadians, Americans, Australians, New Zealanders, Germans, and British (to name a few of the nationalities I ran with) and out of all of those people, every single Nigerian male did something bad to ruin thier names. And that was after defending the virtue of their nationality. Not one....NOT ONE.....was able to stick with a friendship without conning something. It was sad. And it made me feel sad for those Nigerians that are truly and honestly good. So, maybe you should be asking the question "Why are you (fellow Nigerians that can't seem to be honest) giving us a bad name?". As for the person that asked the question....just do what my friend does. Con them back. He sets up fake meeting places and all sorts of stuff and puts them on the great chase for money that isn't there. Serves anyone right...Nigerian, French, Canadian or American, for trying to violate someone elses kindness!

All the time!!!
And much more so through IM and dating sites. Go to the FBI homepage and look for internet security links and contact information.
Don't ever respond or believe them. These people are credited with being brilliant con-artists! They have conned reputable college professors; successful Accountants; and everyone else from all walks of life and intelligence!

Whatever you do, don't send money or your personal information to these people. I got 3 such letters through Cupid.com from guys who asked for money for sick or injured children. It was the same guy, but he used a different name and photo each time. He was dumb enough to use exactly the same words in his introduction always written in broken English like he was from a foreign country. To their credit Cupid deleted the profiles when I reported them but they have no way of finding these kind of people until they are reported.

That is the oldest scan around. If you respond you get the next letter which is they need more money to send you the paperwork.

I've received a ton of them and they're just scams. Report it to your local cops or delete it and be done with it.

NIGERIAN SCAM

TAKE LETTERS TO POST OFFICE OR POLICE.

GIVE NO INFORMATION AND NEVER SEND MONEY OR CASH ANYTHING THAT LOOKS TOO GOOD !

HAD MONEY ORDERS FOR A RENTAL. TOOK THEM TO PO AND WERE TOLD THEY WERE FRAUDULENT. MY WIFE ALMOST TOOK THEM TO THE BANK TO DEPOSIT

MONEY COULD'VE BEEN SENT AND THEN THE BANK WOULD'VE DEDUCTED IT AFTER DAYS WHEN FUNDS WERE NOT GOOD.

POST OFFICE ALSO TOOK THE EMAIL CORRESPONDENCES.
