I have to do a play at my school and my topic is the Cold War. My parents are accused of being Communists and I need to prove that they aren't. How can I do that? Any ideas? Do you think that I could just prove that they are Republicans or something?

Just to let you know I'm only in seventh grade and I haven't learned anything on the Cold War yet. My parents in the PLAY are accused of being communists.

You could use the US Constitution to defend their rights -
The US government broke many of the amendments to the constitution during the Red Scare.
It broke the First Amendment by not allowing the freedom of speech.
The Second Amendment was broken by unreasonable searches; they would often would go into ‘Red’ organizations illegally and search for Communist agendas.
The Sixth Amendment was broken because there were no longer trials for Communists and simply deported them.
The Eighth Amendment was broken when the US allowed for cruel and unusual punishments by beating many of the ‘Reds’ that were jailed.
The Ninth Amendment was broken when the government denied the previously listed Amendments to US citizens.
Finally, the first article of the Fourteenth Amendment was broken because the US government took away citizenship of naturalized citizens.

You do not have to "prove" your parents are not Communists.
That's the whole point.
In America, everybody is free to hold any idea, any political thought, any philosophical stance that they choose.
THERE is your play.
NOT that your parents are not Communists, but that anybody in this country has the right to be anything they want to be. And it's NOBODY's damn business.

If your parents are Republicans - they are one hundred times worse than being Communists!!!!!!!!!!
You can not prove a negative!
Personally I would take the position that my parents are Communists and are dam glad of it! After all they are adults and fully capable of making up their own minds.

You should read about all the harm this idiot did by trying to track down and punish Communists here in this country!

Prove they are devout Christians who since birth spoke to you about Jesus and raised you as a Christian.Tell about the many times they told you bout American history and how big their patriotism is.That should do the trick.
