Amy, you need to be specific with your question. For example, "What are the different types of fronts?". Then I will be able to help you a little better. Ok? Meanwhile let me explain that most of our weather in the NH during the winter is a result of cold air coming south out of the Arctic and Canada. The leading edge of that air mass which is like a big bubble of air is called the front. This cold air and its leading edge, the front pushes warm moist air from down south, perhaps the gulf of Mexico, up and over this front which can create snow showers. Sometimes a wave will form along this front which on the TV weather map is represented by a Low pressure center. The air around a low pressure center flows counter-clockwise and into the low so that upward motion is created which also brings bad weather. Good luck tomorrow.

LOL, that's a gigantic topic! I'll try to boil it down. Water heats up in the sunlight faster than land does. This means that the air over the water is warmer than the air over the land sometimes. Colder air is heavier than warm air, so a whole bunch of cold air is called a Cold front, and they usually head towards the ocean (because it's usually down hill, and because the warmer air rises and leaves a vacuum). This leaves a space for the warm air to fill and it rushes inland. As these winds continually swap places, they bring with them any clouds they pick up on the way.
