Budget about an hour. That way you'll be a little happier if it does as advertised and gets in in 50 minutes (express) and not too upset when the reality (1:10 min-1:15) happens due to congestion, leaves, ice, or whatever is slowing down the trains.

The train leaves from the side platform of Kings Cross (yea, by 9 and 3/4s of Harry Potter fame) so you will have an extra couple minutes (1 or 2) walking to the tracks.

If you take the Cambridge Express from Cambridge to London Kings Cross it takes approximately 50 minutes.
