One thing you can do to improve your singing is to train your ear and voice to sing in tune. This doesn't require lessons, but you have to dedicate some time to it, and you will need an musical instrument of some type to copare the pitch of your voice with. A keyboard is best, but a pitch pipe will do in a pinch. I recomend a book called "Essential Ear Training for the contemporart musician" by Steve Prosser, published by Berklee Press. If you work with the book, you will improve, but I would still recommend taking some lessons at some point to correct any bad habbits that you might be developing.

yes sure . first record youself singing. each note on the scale then listen to that and write down if you were on key or not. according to your ear. next ask someone who isnt tone deaf say a friend that plays some intrusment to listen to the same recording and write down if you were on key or not. if you and him both find that you were right about when you were on key then you can just sing and record it and play it back until you find you are on key all the time.
if you find you and the other person disagree about when you were on key then you need a third person to listen to it and tell you whats up . see you have to at least be sure your not tone deaf. if your tone deaf then there is nothing you can really do about it . if your not tone deaf you can correct your self by listening to your recordings.
learn what your vocal range is first to so that you know not to sing beyond your range.
i am sure the music teacher at your school could tell you this in a matter of minutes .
also dont attempt to sing too much popular music that is screaming or when the person is singing so high they are well out of key. just sing songs that are ones you can tell the person is a professional singer and mimic them . another thing to do is join a choir in church or some place else

Practice singing exactly as the radio does. Many great artists picked up little pieces of style here and there, and it's the whole of the person's influences that gives them their unique voice.
Don't be afraid. I know I waited until age 24 to find my voice. Now I am a karaoke host.

i'm 15 so thats not much of a difference but my sister told me i needed to sing some through your nose, if you sing with your throat you'll sound like Britney spears no one wants that. another way is to copy your favorite singer/bands.
