As much as money may attract a criminal element, this amount of money will be protected by an insane security brigade, and you can expect that any clash with locals would be swift and very unfortunate for the kid that thinks he'll steal a gold medal or something. Olympic events have been held all over the world, and while crime/tragedy has struck, the largest crime is the athlete that manages to use a banned substance, etc. who then throws an event.

I live in the states, but was surprised to hear that London has serious gang problems now. However, some of the previous sites for the Olympics have also had social problems (Atlanta, L.A.) and even political unrest (Mexico City).

if the olympics are in the east bronx they'll have to compete with us. We'll call it the gansta olympics. We'll do the old lady toss, the handbag snatch, the police dog at your heels 500K run, and my favorite event the smash and grab.

What?

The government officially realizes that you need to learn to use a spell checker. Taxes are to be levied in the millions to afford everyone reading posts such as this the ability to understand what you're talking about.

Carry on.
