or at least call the religions of today mythology. like christian mythology and jewish mythology. since religion and mythology are basically the same things, a bunch of made up stories that aren't true.

LOL! Good point, it's all mythology if you don't believe. There are pagans out there who still worship the old gods and goddesses so, to them, it is still a religion.

Reminds me of the line in the movie DOGMA where the angel says God doesn't like it when we call it "mythology."

It had temples and priests and priestesses. It provided some explanation to how did we get here, and what should we do with our lives. Most importantly, people believed it. That's a religion all right. It's a dead religion and I guess that's what makes it a myth. If there were still active followers it would be called a religion. I'd be careful about calling someone's religion a myth to their face even if that's how you feel about it. No sense insulting people.

greek mythology isnt really a religion used today, mythology is based on non-fiction, so it is a bunch of made up stories by people like some sorcerers, things like that. i belive there is one true religion. religion and mythology are almost the same except one is made up,others are based on true belifes. look it up.your welcome...

I belive, as said, the disctinction is your personal level of belief. If you believe in Zeus, Posidon, etc, then it is a religion to you. If you believe they are merely stories then it is merely myth to you. Since it hasn't been widely believe in a very long time it is taught as myth. Other religions such as Christianity and Buddhism are labled as religions but if they ever fell out of vogue so that only a tiny, miniscule minority believed in them then I think they, too would be taught as myth. It's a good point, though.
