Is it me or do they have more monday holidays every year

It saves energy. The buldings can have heat or A/C turned down for a longer period of time. And if the holidays were in the middle of the week, people would take leave in order to lengthen their "vacation" so it makes more sense to just give the workers a long weekend.

Not all holidays fall on a Monday, but sometimes the holidays are celebrated on Monday as to not break up the rest of the week... Also, a lot of holidays are always on Monday, or Sunday, look at a calendar... Like Thanksgiving is always on a Thursday.

Federal holidays were established and celebrated on Mondays to allow the Americans to have more than 1 day off. It makes sense if the holiday falls on a Tuesday, workers will have to work on Monday, take Tuesday off and go to work on Wednesday. By celebrating on Mondays, workers could have at least 3 days of celebrating.

I think it's so they can have 3 day weekends. And not have to go to the office on a monday.

they like the three day weekends.
which is nice if you don't have to work on the weekend, but kind of sucks for the people that do; or if your kids are in school and you either have to miss work or find a babysitter.

when I was in the military, we used to get 4 days off every holiday, so maybe it partially applies here too (I don't know if I'm really being helpful).

It doesn't really matter,they don't do any work anyway,they sit on there duffs and vegetate all day long,it's a good place to put illegal immigrants,at least they would work.
