My boss thinks it was on purpose and I was told I would not get a raise for the next 3 or 4 years. Should I quit or just work harder to change his mind about my raise? I think he found the beaker online and the cost is $9,000. Am I in deep trouble? What would you do? Has this ever happened to you?

I think he should fire you. Breaking glassware is no way to act at work. You were probably pretending to dribble it like a basketball.

It may not have been on purpose, but still it is broken. You should work hard and watch your self around any more items that are breakable. You're only in deep trouble if the opinion of you from your boss has gone considerably down. Don't quit unless he completely treats you unfairly. Hope that helps..

I'm not sure that is legal. If someone is on the premises of your employment, surely it SHOULD be covered by insurance. Look into your rights before you take that sort of abuse. There are other jobs out there!
