Yeah, my husband is a die hard football fanatic. I am Canadian, he is from the congo. I can't say that I really appreciate the sport like it should be appreciated....but then again, I don't really appreciate many sports (to watch on TV, I mean). I'm not much of a sports fanatic. My husband calls it football, and I guess I do too (now). We (as Canadians) were brought up to think of it as soccer. I had no idea that it was called "football" till I went to China and met my husband. So you can't really fault the americans for calling it soccer. But I will say that "football" is the true and correct name for the game. My hubby is an Arsenal die hard. He has the shirt, the cup...you name it. I don't think it makes you a tomboy at all. Alot of my african girl friends love the game as well. You're just a girl who loves a sport! Cudos to you. I wish I could get into it, like my friends do.

Nothing wrong with being a girl and liking football.
The word soccer was formed by the English and not the Americans.
It came from footballs early days when it was called asSOCiation football. Dialects i believe had an influence as people often put er´s on the end of words ,eg RUGGER. The word soccer came into being when a shortened form of association was used SOC and the ER common in the area dialect just got attatched. Of course i could be wrong.

Soccer is loved by so many girls these days, I can't live without it. So believe me it does not mean that you are a tomboy if you love soccer. It's so cool that both men and women love this wonderful game.

oh my gosh i think i found my twin!!!!!yes, i love futbol and i live in america and HATE it when they call it soccer! my favorite team is real madrid because i really like roberto carlos ALOT.......i can go on for hours about football!and im girly i love to look cute BUT im a dancer so it makes me pretty good at football.I love brasil even though im from dominican republic and we play baseball not futbol...i was so sad when they lost in the FIFA.oh yea i hate it when people call ronaldhino ugly he's soo cute to me!

I can't get into the football because someone can be on £80,000 a week, dive, roll like a baby and get a penalty. To me, how can you earn so much and the game is spoilt by the cheating. You're supposed to win by skill. Sometimes it ain't.

I am a total tomboy and football mad!!!!!!!!!!! Although likin footie does not make u a tomboy (so u must just be one of these sporty girls). I play football all the time...i always play with my mates that are boys (and i whoop them lol) i support Everton forever!!!!!
