The only really good answer you got was from surelynot. Use XP's own built-in firewall, and a router. But whatever you do, stay away from comodo. I tried that one, and almost had to sue them to get instructions on how to get that thing off my computer!

Don't use the Firewall built into Windows XP because every kind of malware has a free pass to send data out. Use the free version of Zone Alarm that way you can block every worm, virus, backdoor, trojan, adware, spyware, and keylogger from sending your data out to who knows where.

XP has a built in firewall. And your best bet is to get a router to sit between your computer and your modem. Routers have built in firewalls also.
