Staunch Conservative here.

I always vote republican, because, as seen in the last election, the conservatives who were fooled into voting for a democrat senator or representative who was more conservative than the RINO repub, actually put pelosi and reid in charge. In Congress, the politics of 1 senator or representative is less important than the politics of the party who gains power.

Even on the presidential level, this holds true. Judicial nominations, cabinet appointments, etc. will lean left or right in accordance with the party line.

You vote for the other guy! Politics is not some sports rivalry. Too many people vote for the Democrat or the Republican, no matter who it is. I guess you'd still vote for your party's candidate if you believe in what the party stands for more than what the other party stands for. But it seems like both parties stand for a load of crap these days. And it also seems like Bush isn't really towing the party line, so maybe present-day presidents are more autonomous than before...

Still, I am very against voting for someone just because you've always supported that party. Of course, it's better than the way most people pick a president... based on looks or what religion they are or whether they have an accent that's not like the one in their own neck of the woods...

I'm slightly to the right of Benito Mussolini. Until last November, I had never voted for a Democrat for so much as Dog Catcher.

A personal friend of mine happened to run for State Senate as a Democrat (which is probably a good idea, considering I pretty much AM the Republican Party in my home county). Considering that he is arguably the most conservative Democrat in Michigan (as well as pro-life), I took the plunge and voted for a Democrat.

Do your research. Look for the naughty bits. You can find anything out about anyone. I like to start at thesmokinggun.com .

I'm a staunch conservative, but if you look up Giuliani, WOO. Everyone else in the race for the Republican Primary is up in the air.

And I actually wouldn't mind if Gore ran again. He's a little wacky but he's an incredibly intelligent, impartial 'progressive.' As for Lieberman, whatever, his campaign motto should be "Let's f**k with s**t."

For the people who do not understand why I'm saying "I'm a staunch conservative, but vote across the line:" I used to like Bush in a nationalist way, but I've started to realize: who in their right mind would hire him for anything now. He does not pay attention to, or is not intelligent enough to pay attention to: DETAIL. McCain suffers from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. He cannot be trusted to be impartial. And who else is there...?

I don't vote for a candidate based on whether I "like" them. Many Americans do, so they''l vote for a liberal one election and a rightist the next. I vote for who I think will promote policies I agree with. Even if they're a stiff.

Then vote for the other guy!!

I've voted for a few Republicans before. It was hard, but I lived!

Don't ever vote based on the party line, vote your conscience.
