I was married for 7 yrs & now single by myself. My ex took care of all the cleaning so I got lazy over the last few years. Is there any videos out that can make me more enthused to clean?

hello , you don´t need a video to learn how to keep your place clean , Here´s what I do got the idea from this web site www.getorganizednow.com Are you ready to start, okay set your alarm clock to go off in 15 min´s , you see how much you can do in this amount of time & you´ll be surprised just how much you can do , so let´s start in the room that drive´s you up the wall the most , Let´s say your bedroom , So all clothes that need to be washed next to the bedroom door you can take them to the laundry basket when you have finished, & anything else that does´t belong in your room can be left outside the door . put all the clothes that are clean in the closet hang them up on hanger´s jumper´s shirts belts shoes all to the closet , dont forget the ones under the bed , Stop, now have a rest , and you go on like this if you think you´d rather carry on then do so always clean one room at a time, but go to the site I mentioned and you´ll get some really great advise & your house will be in ship shape order in no time , hope that help you a bit , of you go and have a beer , after all that hard work sure you deserve it

I don't know about any videos that make housekeeping look fun... I'll be scanning your answers to see if someone else does!

I know there's an old Robert Palmer song from the 80's called Housework... it's cute.

ANYWAY, I digress.... There ARE keys to being successful with housecleaning.

The biggest one that I've learned (and it's been a HARD lesson)... is to clean as you go. That means, don't be so lazy that you don't do the little things like taking the empty glass to the sink once you're done drinking, or hanging up your coat when you walk in the house. When you leave stuff lying around, that just makes more work (overwhelming work) for you later on down the road. Which would you prefer? The 15 seconds it takes to put the dirty dish in the sink and the 30 seconds it takes to hang the coat... or the hour it takes you to clean your entire living room after a month of lazy behavior? Again, if you're not used to "being tidy", this is not an easy habit to establish, but if you want to avoid overwhelming deep cleaning sessions of housecleaning, this is the most important character issue that needs to be addressed.

The next thing is similar to what someone else mentioned: work in shifts... don't try to clean your entire house in one day. If it's even a little bit out of control, you'll find yourself spending an entire Saturday cleaning... and having only a portion of your house clean to show for it. Not very motivating and you set your self up for failure. Why? Because the next time you're faced with cleaning, all you can think of is that terrible day you worked so hard, and yet accomplished little.

Better to, either on paper or in your mind, divide up your home into manageable sections, and decide that you will focus on one section per weekend... and that you'll only spend a certain amount of time doing it.

It's easier to feel motivated to clean something when you have the vision that it's not going to be a gruelling 14 hour long event. Setting aside just an hour or two for deep cleaning gives you a light at the end of the tunnel, so to speak.

And, having said that, I have officially motivated MYself to do some cleaning that up until now I have neglected. DOH!

Best of luck to you!

I usually get motivated to clean with a new cleaning "toy". For instance, once I bought a Scuncii Steamer another time I got a Black and Decker scrubbing brush, etc. Then a favorite CD, open all the doors and windows, an energy drink, and I am ready to go!

I would say to invite a couple you know that has a VERY neat house over for supper some night soon. That will do the trick. My wife goes around here like somebody possessed when someone is coming over for a meal, and I either help or get out of the way !

Put on your favorite music...then start by telling yourself you will clean for only 30 minutes. After that time see how much you have finished. If you want then stop and set another time to go on another cleaning spree for a set amount of time. It becomes a competition with yourself to see how much you can get done in whatever time frame you chose.

Pretend like you are selling your home and are having an open house and look at your home like a potential buyer would. What is really bad and needs cleaning the most. Tackle one thing at a time and if it's really bad and company is coming take a black heavty trash bag, toss it all in, garage it and sort later while watching t.v.

For me...I get up early one day a week and turn on music that is fun and enjoyable to me and start cleaning. Once I get started it takes over and I get more done.

Just do it. I am never enthusiastic about cleaning. In fact, I should be vacuuming right now. I will get it done and then I will feel so much better.

Your best bet is to start inviting your dates home for dinner. You'll want to impress her, and that'll motivate you to clean.
I also agree with our friend above. Get rid of all unnecessary knick-knacks and dust catchers. Keep it simple.

..the best way to get motivated to clean house is to hire a sexy blonde maid....(since you are single now)....

...or, you can just throw everything away and keep the bare necessities....
