A lot of Conservatives complain anout the "liberal media", but for some reason....they continue to pay attention to the "liberal media".

Why don't they just shut off their tv and quit watching it? There are plenty of far right wing websites that will tell them what they want to hear!!

Oh God! Still this myth about the "liberal" media.

Watch any US news channels with an open mind and you will see:
- News and public affairs that are predominatly pro-military and pro-business
- Promotion of policies such as expansive Presidential executive powers and deregulation of corporations
- Critical or absent coverage of progressives Democrats (e.g., pro-peace 2004 presidential candidate Dennis Kucinich) and Green party candidates (e.g., Ralph Nader)
- Soft coverage on Republicans and conservative Democrats.
- "Experts" on news programs often come from "conservative think tanks", such as the Heritage Foundation, the Cato Institute, and the American Enterprise Institute.

The majority of news stations are owned by Multi-billion dollar media conglomerates such as NewsCorp, General Electric and Viacom. The CEOs of these, as well as the CEOs of Disney and Time-Warner are all Republicans. Rupert Murdoch (Sky etc) is not a US citizen, can hardly be called a liberal. Considering editorial policy is set from the top down in virtually all media organizations, is it credible to think that a load of right-wing Republicans would really show things completely opposite to their beliefs?

Suggesting that there is a liberal bias in the media allows conservative biases to be played up in the name of "redressing" the media's balance.

I really don't think they watch that much of the liberal comentary. They tend to stick with Fox. I watch most news programs and some are more liberal than others, but have found that more are conservative. Especially, when there is a big story going on, I like to watch most of them because you start to get a clearer picture. You listen to the right then you listen to the left. Suddenly, you realize you are capable of thinking for yourself.

I remember there was one story once about the levy's in Miss. after Katrina. They were repairing them and I think there was another rain storm coming. CNN was going on and on about the eminent tragedy while Fox barely said anything about it and the person they were interviewing downplayed everything compared to CNN's interviewee. I just made up my mind that neither really knew what was going on.

Anyone who relies on the media as a news source is an idiot. Unfortunately, some people weigh their judgments of issues after viewing 10 second clips of edited crap delivered by liberals for small-minded people. These people almost always vote democratic. If the DON'T vote democratic, it is because they have in fact died, and are unable to make it to a polling place...

Conservatives have voted with thier remotes. Viewership of the big 3 networks is in a steady decline and newspaper readership is at an all time low. Pointing out that the old media is slanted liberal is not a complaint but a statement of fact and recognition that they are what they are

In general the "media" is about as liberal as Attila the Hun. It is just by comparison to their own delusions that the ultra right thinks them Liberal.

It takes very little research (discounting the lunatic fringe on both sides) to determine that the "media" chooses not to broadcast things a lot more damning than what they choose to report.

As entertainment goes, the "media" is way right of center.
A fellow I know that works for an NBC affiliate station (news "talent") says that anybody getting their information from the media is an idiot. He should know.

Many of us do get our information elsewhere in addition to the mainstream. Those who totally shut off the mainstream are Kool-aide drinkers and no better than the libs who listen to nothing but their side. We would not be doing our jobs to gaurenteeing that people at least have the opportunity to be well-informed if we weren't watching and informing.

I listen to all media and make up my own mind. We should all do that. I am liberal but I am not always a Democrat.
