If the brakes are squeaking it could be the pads or it could be the rotors.

If its a high pitched squeak then its probably that you need new brake pads. The brake pads have a metal backing plate and once the brake material has been worn off then every time you brake you are grinding this metal plate against your metal brake discs. Hence the sound like someone scratching a fork against a plate, or the old nails down a blackboard! New pads are cheap but will only help if you change them SOONER rather than later as this problem will cause your brake rotors to become deformed (metal on metal; somethings gotta give) making the rotors less effective and the brakes rubbish.

If the problem only appeared after your accident then my second guess would be the rotors, but it depends if the wheels actually got hit. If the sound is like a juddering then its probably the rotors and the best solution is new ones as they are either warped or bent. (but they ain't cheap)

Hope this helps

If your brakes are not actually worn out, then the only solution is to take the brake pads off and apply "anti-squeak" stuff available in mini packets from AutoZone and other local auto parts shops. It also comes in a can so you can spray it on. Nonetheless, this will require some work.

most brake pads have wear indicators on them that can be bent out of the way to allow quiet operation until the repair is done , however , since this has shown up after an accident , i suspect that something else may be happening as well , please have it checked out.
