I messed up bad. I have a free checking account that I only use for paypal and ebay, and never has more than $50 in it. In early December I paid my ebay charges with this account and haven't bothered with it until yesterday. Well, my account had $7.20 in it and my ebay fee was $8.26. Sunday I tried loggin into ebay only to find my account supsened, so I did some checking, blah blah blah... So in December I overdarfted twice, once for $16 and once for $28, then $6 a day since then. So I'm up to owing my bank over $400. I'm not loaded and can't pay this off all in one shot, and from what I'm calculating, I'm going to be in debt to this bank forever at $6 a day, and never be able to get ahead, or take the chargeoff and ruin my credit. This feels like extortion. The department I need to talk to is closed today (even though they're still getting another $6 today), so I can't do anything about it until tomorrow.

the lady I did manage to talk to today wasn't very positive about putting a stop these charges until I can get it payed off. I asked about closing the account and payeing the debt over time, but she said no accounts get closed in the negative, and it's up to them WHEN they decide to give up and do a charg off. So they could rack me up for years and totally ruin my life. Help???

I would try to talk to a supervisor in the proper department. They really should waive all the fees except the first one.

Been there, done that. Wachovia did the same thing to me about 3 years ago. Honestly, I had to pay the bank the money and skimp on everything else. I paid all of my other bills late and accepted the late fees. I also worked extra hours. But you should speak with customer service, not just an associate--a manager or supervisor. Go inside the bank instead of calling. That way you will get more help because the bank does not want to lose an account, even if it is overdrawn.

OMG!!! I have never heard of a bank charging $6.00/ day for overdraft fees. Usually it's a one-time charge of approximately 32.00 plus the amount you over drafted. If I were you, I would call the bank tomorrow and try to work out something with them. Just remember that being nice gets you further than being an a**. See if they can suspend the $6.00 per day and you you pay what you over drafted plus a one-time overdraft charge. I would also consider switching banks after this has been corrected. If at all possible, avoid the charge off. Just let them know that you don't have a lot of money to pay these fines but most definitely want to pay what you owe for the overdraft and that you don't want to ruin your credit over such a simple mistake. Good Luck, hopefully they will understand and help you out, b/c we all make mistakes.

You have to pay it, there is no way around it and yes if you let it linger long enough it can mess up your credit, trust me i know, it sucks getting yourself at the point, you think they screwed up and the bank sucks but its noone to blame but ourselves. usually banks are pretty flexible with payment plans, like if you consent to paying it off with a certain amount weekly and so on, til you finally have it paid off, but no they wont close it until its completely paid off, so i would shut down any accounts that automatically take the money out of that account, and pay it off, then if you want to continue using ebay and paypal, start from scratch once your in a positive amount, good luck!

and no they dont waive fees, they waive the 1st fee you ever get as a courtesy for banking with them but if you keep getting overdrafted they no longer have to waive the fees
