My senior year in highschool I hurt my back during the 2nd week of the season and never got it checked out until the end. They said I had a stress fracture and two herniated disc's above and below the fracture. It has been 3 years since then and I have been working out for a year and a half doing all the stuff I used to in highschool, squats, bench, all of that. I go to a chiropractor once a month to help out as well. I recently got asked to play for a Semi-Pro football team and I was wondering if I should take a chance to play, football is my passion and I would do anything to play it. I just want to know how big of a risk I am really taking with my back.

Clem,
I'm sure you are wanting to play football once again. However, a doctor needs to answer this question. You should have a complete physical before you even think about playing again. Don't take a chance, because it is not worth having an injury that will bother you for the rest of your life.
Good Luck!

I share your love for playing football.....
Sad to say, I was in your shoes......
I broke my ankle my senior year of high school in the playoffs. After the season, I worked to get my ankle in 100% shape again, because I was looking to play college football, but my ankle never seemed to feel the same. Then, last year........(4 years later) I heard about and arena football league having tryouts. I figured my chances were good, and I didn't even think about my ankle. By the second day of tryouts I was already starting to limp. By the fourth day, the pain in my ankle was unbearable. So I had to give up.
Please think long and hard about this, one wrong hit or fall, your back could be feeling like hell again in no time.
You may not be religous, but......I think you should pray about it.

Put on a red jersey for spring practice and see your doctor. If its okay to play, definately do it. If its not, depending on whether you'd rather risk your nerves and being paralyzed doing what you love, or you'd rather be safe but never play again. Good luck.

Don't risk it! What you don't need is a lifetime of chronic pain in your back. Just give up your chance of ever playing football again.

It depends what positon you play and how in shape you are. If you think you are physically ready to play I would do it but if you aren't you could destroy your entire career.
