do you think it was a fair dramatization of suburban life in america, or was the blatant delusional behavior of some characters a little stretched? i personally enjoyed the movie, but i would love to hear all reactions.

Is it typical of suburbia? Probably not, but only because it's a worst case scenario. It's very unlikely that the mid-life crisis family is also the cheating spouse family and lives right next door to the psychotic neighbor with the obsessive son, etc. etc. etc.

It is however a wonderful cautionary tale. This is how a marriage slowly dies. This is how to drive away children. This is what a midlife crisis looks like. This is the madness caused by denying your true self. This is not what you really want, it's just a symbol for what you want. Don't let this happen to you.

It's like Aesop's fables for adults.

I really enjoyed the film a lot. I believe it does a great job of showing how we all have our own weird little worlds. It shows that we are all different but acceptable once you get to know us.

No, middle aged men with a bitchy wife and as shole bosses do not secretly want to bang superhot high school cheerleaders.

it's ironic, and shows that what it seems perfect, underneath it all it's not.
