I don't believe it. I think women are really savvy voters who look at the issues and will align themselves with a candidate who best supports their issues. I don't think women are that shallow with their votes. This isn't candidate specific. How do you think women will vote. By appearance or by issues?

If he said ALL women do then of course he would be wrong. If he said some or the majority of women do then he would be right. Most people in this country don't have a clue on the political philosophies of the candidates they support. So they vote for them based on other reasons....like looks, or they vote for a party because their parents voted for that party.

Many men vote for candidates by appearance rather than issues. But women do, too. The people who do this are in the bottom rung of the American social system. Most people vote on issues.

While I think that issues are very important to most voters, there have been discussions about "The Likability Factor". Two elections come to mind. In 1960, Kennedy looked better on television than Nixon, which made the difference in one of the cloest elections in history. Then, in 1988, when Dukakis gave a weak, wishy-washy answer to the questions, "What would you do if they raped and murdered" your wife, it turned off many voters against George Bush the elder. While it is not looks per se, or else somelike like Edwards might be president, perceptions do count.

I hate to say it, but your prof just may be right. The reason I say this is because when CLinton was running for president I heard quite a few women who were voting for him and THAT was the reason they gave, and these were supposedly fairly well educated women too. Scary, don't you think? I do think MOST women vote for issues, at least I'm hoping so.

I believe they are swayed by his looks but also the way he talks. It is how many women are involved physically with men who really do not love them.tell a lie the right way and it will not be a lie. Women primarily voted for the smooth talking Bill Clinton?

Many people vote on likeability instead of the issues. Your prof is off track with the looks thing unless he can back it up.

The majority will absolutely vote by the issues. I believe that women care more about the real issues than men do (men will stick by their party--no matter what, or whom).

i think some women do vote that way. some men do too.

of course, there are more people who don't do it. (which should be obvious-look at the non-good looking men who have gotten loads of women's votes.) and your professor should be more careful about painting everyone with the same brush.

you know i have heard this too, yet i have by no potential fairly heard any study of it. humorous ingredient although, at the same time as bill Clinton replaced into operating for President my mom had made a remark to a similar outcome and that i merely imagine its humorous how later he ended up having all those um "topics".
