There isn't anything your going to do that will make as big an impact on your body composition than your eating habits and a strong desire and willingness to change them if their currently keeping you from your goal of seeing your abs. Eat allot of quality protein, vegetables, whole grains and good EFAs. Along with that you should look at incorporating big compound exercises into your program, squats, deadlifts, pullups along with some cardio on your off days. The diet is still the number one thing that will keep your abs hidden forever.

I would recommend doing cardio as well as strength training. First, however, you should change your diet. Abs cannot be achieved by exercise alone. If you develop your core, but do not change your diet and lose weight your stomach will just look bigger and you won't look slimmer.
