I actually don't think that's true at all! Have you seen some of the flak that bisexuals get? There are so many stereotypes and misconceptions and outright lies about bisexuals. I actually have a list of them written out that I post often in questions about bisexuality:
Bisexuals are not:
1) Greedy.
2) Confused.
3) In a 'phase'.
4) Indecisive.
5) Horny or sex-addicted or nympomaniacal.
6) People who want to have their cake and eat it, too.
7) Necessarily polyamorous or in open relationships.
8) Commitment-phobic or unfaithful.
9) Really gay or straight and in denial.
10) Really gay or straight but getting perks/avoiding condemnation by being bisexual.
11) Necessarily into group sex.
12) Necessarily equally split in their love of each sex.
13) Necessarily experienced with both sexes in order to call ourselves 'bisexual'.
14) The spreaders of disease from the gay community to straight.
It seems like we get hatred, biphobia, and bi-invisibility from both sides, gay and straight. People think bisexuality doesn't exist; I've heard people say it all the time, and top it off with a "Why don't they choose, already?". It's immensely unfair.
But I'm sure in some cases, it is more acceptable to be bisexual than homosexual. It certainly seems to be more palatable to be a bisexual woman than a gay one, at least from a straight man's perspective. Some potential reasons why bisexuality could be more acceptable than homosexuality:
1) You're not closed off to anyone. Gay men make women upset because 'all the hot, nice guys are gay!', and lesbian women make men angry because they can't have them. But the bisexual is still good for both teams.
2) In our heteronormative world, bisexuality is seen as an asset, because they are 'half-straight'. People who worry about what others will think take joy because they can hide the 'gay side' of their friend, family, spouse, whatever. Until the person dates someone of the same sex, the 'secret' is safe, it seems.
3) Similarly, it's assumed that bisexual people are less of a threat to the population. People are always bemoaning that if everyone were gay, there would be no more people. Bisexuals don't present that problem (or people think that they don't).
4) In a lot of cases, bisexuality is made to be glamorous (like with the bisexual women being attractive to straight men as I mentioned above). Bisexuality is hot, because it's "experimenting, putting on a show", while the person has their 'real' orientation (most likely thought to be heterosexual) still intact.
Those are the ones I can think of. Hope that helps!

I personally don't think anyone should care about feeling accepted by anyone. They seem to feel accepted if they are partially heterosexual. Bisexuals are in denial about a couple of things, two of which:
1. Bisexuals think they're accepted because they're still "half straight."
2. Bisexuals claim they have NO problem with being committed or faithful.
Don't worry about being accepted - there's no use in trying to play both sides of any fence because that doesn't last long. Obviously bisexuals go with both sexes, but long term relationships seldom work out in a bisexual triangle. I think it's better to go one way or the other if you want a relationship that will last.

Actually, I think it's generally more acceptable to be homosexual than bisexual...speaking in terms of the REAL world. In the "party" atmosphere and club scene, I guess you could say that bisexuality is "in" right now. But when you're talking about people who genuinely want to be accepted into society as a couple, homosexuality is more widely-accepted. I myself don't really think it's any of my business how people want to live, however, I tend to frown upon bisexuality because it is associated more with irresponsibility than it is with a lifestyle choice.

I don't think it is. If anything, it is less acceptable to be bisexual than it is to be homosexual, because bisexuals not only have to deal with the normal homophobia that one experiences from not being on the "straight and narrow", but they also get disdain from some gays and lesbians for being "too greedy" or "not willing to decide" on their sexual orientation.

i'm bisexual. i won't be in a position to declare as I completely agree or disagree with the two area. watching it from the perspective of people who discover it annoying to return to words with gay and lesbian human beings, i've got self belief that to them bisexuality is a "wish" that there is a few "right away" left in us. It sounds very stupid, yet i've got met a large type of folk who attempt to "help progression" my activity in adult men, however i will have not got something to do with that, considering that I also have a female buddy. At different cases, however, i think of human beings hear a large type of fake issues approximately bisexuality usually. It amazes me that on a daily basis i visit take heed to human beings in this city get at a loss for words between the meanings of bisexuality and polygamy. A regularly occurring area of society frowns upon polygamy, and this fake association at times supplies bisexuals a bad rep, even however i individually evaluate polygamous relationships to be cheating.

I don't think that to be true at all. When was the last time you had a large faction of bisexuals represented at a Pride Parade or anything of that sort? It doesn't happen. For whatever reasons, in the GLBT community, bisexuals are not as readily accepted. That's in the gay communities across the country.
Now if you are comparing it in the hetero community, yes bisexuality is easily accepted. Only if it is woman on woman. The hetero's are hypocrites in this regard.

I can see why cando 86 has the highest amount of best answers in this category - not much can be added to what he posted. Except that I think bisexuals feel the most at home and "natural" with their sexuality than those who insist they are straight (with perhaps some hidden doubts), and those who find they are completely gay (with consequent feelings of inadequacy, whether justified or not).
This may be because bisexuality is the most common orientation for humans if unburdened with social disapprobation for other than "straight" desires and behavior.

I thought it was more unacceptable to be bisexual then homosexual.
I think why it may be more acceptable to be bisexual is because many people view that stage as being confused and act like it's only possible to have a sexual attractive for one sex. They think that they may stop being "confused" and become heterosexual.
On the other hand I notice it's actually more unacceptable to be bisexual because like I mention, many people their think confused and only suppose to love one sex. Also, they may think bisexuals are just being greedy.

I accept people regardless of their sexual orientation. But I think the reason people find bisexuluality more acceptable is for a few reasons. A: people who are not keen or who totaly dissaprove etc have (i imagine) this idea that you might return to what they would call "normall" or "natural" etc, almost as if 'he might still be saved' sort of nonsense.
B: That everyone can relate to some degree, what i mean, for example, is if im talking to a guy who is bisexual then i know we can relate when looking at a beautiful woman etc.
C: I guess those who feel threatened/scared around same sex people who are gay would feel less threatened/scared around bisexals because the same sex would not be the only thing on the menu. Lol.
