Hands down, Bank of America. They sometimes have some funny clauses as to how much you must keep in your account on a monthly basis (or even they may have a minimum amount to open), but leagues ahead!

I don't trust Wachovia because that bank keep sending me emails notifying me that I changed my password to my account and that it has been changed. However, I don't have a location of that bank near me, so how in the world they keep contacting me for.so I prefer Bank Of America because they have the keep the change program in which you can watch your savings grow. Also, Bank of America has FREE CHECKING only if you pay a bill/or bills online. So, I say sign up!

I don't know Wachovia. But, I love Bank of America.... you can find a bank almost anywhere and they are very helpful. Good luck!

Wachovia's good if you're on the east coast. They've just gotten into California. I choose banks by how convenient their ATMs are for me -- other than that, they're pretty much all the same.

I work for Bank of America... and the guy above me said that we have free checking for using billpay? Umm no, we have free billpay IF you have a checking account with us. Not the other way around. We have a free checking account if you get direct deposit atleast every 30 days deposited into your account. We also have a Minimum Balance account. If you keep atleast $500 in it every month when your statement cycle ends, then its free; otherwise its like 5.95. If you're a student, college or high school, then we offer FREE checking... and we offer checking accounts to anyone over 16. If you have a high balance account (over 10,000) then we offer the GOLD account which you get all checks for free; Money Orders, Cashiers Checks, Travellers Cheques, Personal Checks. If you dont keep 10,000 in there, then its 15.95 a month... WHICH if you use a lot of checks and get money orders and cashiers checks a lot, pays for itself.. (Cashiers checks are $6 and Money Orders are $4, Personal and Travellers Checks vary). Hope this helps!

P.S. We also have the program Keep The Change, which no other bank offers.

Both are great banks. Most banks will have specials to entice you to move to them. I would go to both, meet the manager and personal banker and see what they can do for you.

Choose the bank that gives you the best service. In my experience, it always good to know the people at your bank in case you ever need help with correcting errors or getting deals better than their advertised specials. Good Luck!

I suggest Bank of Internet if you are comfortable with online banking.

1. high interest rate for checking account...now is 3% something~

2.never have to go to bank to deposit check..just use their business reply envelope and mail out the deposit (they pay the postage)

3.you can use all the ATMs everywhere..they reimburse the fee up to $7 per month. (most of time I just get cash back from grocery store)

I know a lot of people are not comfortable with online banking...but personally I feel it is so convenient since I hate to go to bank to deposit checks and find my bank's ATM to avoid fees....

If you are looking for higher saving account intereat rate...INGdirect is a good place to park emergency funds

At this time I would not support Bank of America. They are supporting terrorist funding activities by allowing people without Social Security numbers to get credit cards.
