I really tried to get into the sport but I just couldn't. Its too repetitive and it's pretty uninteresting. I tried to watch a race once but all it made me do was fall asleep. The only time I like NASCAR is when a major wreck occurs. Other thann that theres not much to it but a bunch of guys in fast cars going around in circles.

I am baffled by this as well! My father was a major Nascar advertising executive for many years, and now my fiance is a Nascar fanatic. Both have tried to explain the appeal (and justify it being a sport!), and I still just don't see it.

And I've been to live races!

Well I really don't like NAsCAR, but yesterday was the Daytona race. And surprisingly I liked watching it. I guess the crashes and the intense mood of the race gives people a thrill to watch it. At the end of the race yesterday, one guy passes the lead guy within like one turn until the finish line, and beat him by like one foot, so it was really crazy to watch. But yeh, I'll probably watch more now that I saw that intense race yesterday. Maybe people like me and you should only watch the last 10 laps, the best part =]

enable me initiate through declaring that my kinfolk has continually been NASCAR followers, in some form. It grow to be continually on at my grandparents domicile. And later, when I were given into it, it grow to be continually on at our domicile. easily, i began in severe college figuring out to purchase the Rusty Wallace Miller Lite shirts. because he grow to be a Ford driver on the time & that made my kinfolk satisfied & it grow to be a fashion i ought to placed on an alcoholic beverage blouse to school & no one suggested some thing. Then my Sophomore 3 hundred and sixty 5 days (1997/1998) I had an English instructor who grow to be a die-troublesome Dale Earnhardt Sr fan. So, i began watching the races to make certain the position Sr would end, to target to gauge her mood on Monday's. From that I grew to grow to be hooked and characteristic been religiously watching NASCAR races because the Daytona 500 in 1998. and in reality I actually have grow to be the most important fan in our kinfolk & have grew to grow to be my mom into more beneficial of a fan than she ever has been. i'm also the reason she drove 1100 miles, one way, to domicile in 2006 for the most suitable race of the season. And the reason that for the most suitable 2 years we've pushed 800 miles, one way, to Daytona in July. and that i'm also responsible for us going to the Oct race in Atlanta now (will be there this weekend, so i'm counting it to boot) for 4 years in a row. So, even besides the undeniable fact that my unique interest in NASCAR grow to be in uncomplicated words superficial, that is now as authentic because it receives.

I agree. and i know people who go to nascar events just to drink and get drunk because yes, it does get monotonous and boring seeing the cars go around and around. in terms of car racing, i find rally car racing and formula 1 racing much more interesting.

NASCAR isnt for everyone. You evidently are one of those. I happen to like it. Yes I am from the South too, just thought I would clear that up. I am not a redneck nor a hillbilly either, just a southern woman who likes fast things. My favorite driver was # 3, now its # 8. But thats just me.

It's all percentages. Most people are dumb, therefore, there are a lot of possible fans.

For smart people, NASCAR seems too simple. Positioning, wind, gas, drafting, turning high or low, changing tires, it's all very basic. However, when your an idiot, all that stuff seems pretty complicated. So when they figure it all out they think they are a genious. Plus it's really noisy and colorful, stupid people love loud colorful things.

I can't stand stupid NASCAR!!!!! It requires no physical skill its not interesting and nothing happens. NASCAR makes me sick. You are so right when you say the only good stuff is when there is a crash, but other than that its just horrible.
