I find that it helps to build in breaks. Time yourself. For example, you might allow yourself to do 30 min of homework and reward yourself with a 10 minute break. Sometimes it might be necessary to force yourself to sit and work for that 30 min, but then the break is something to look forward to. If you find yourself getting distracted, say it is okay and then get back on track. Also, it can be hard to sit and work on one subject all the time, so maybe in the first half hour, you could do part of the math assignment and then after your break you might want to spend some time reading your history. You need variety and incentives. I like to relax for a while and have a snack before starting.

I am a retired teacher and I use these techniques to get things done at home, like housework and paper work. I used this with my daughter and she does the same now with her children.

You should set up a schedule when you get home that lets you have, let's say, 15 minutes to work on homework, then you get a break, then 15 more minutes. A schedule. Also, a good idea would be to take notes on things you don't understand and then ask your teachers. Also, for things like history and science, you should read similar information in good books that describe it well.

Perhaps your local library has a homework club or do you have a school library that opens after school? A good tip is to try and do the Maths and science on the day that it is set. What about working with a "study-buddy" either at your home or theirs. The best advice is do it sooner rather than later.
