Yes I believe that the web can influence us better than television. Mostly for the simple fact that it isn't controlled by big business. It's freedom of speach at its best. McCain wants to end that if elected. It causes great concern to the government, because this could cause the masses to actually learn about how corrupt our government and see the proof of it. It scares the global elite and will force them to try and control us with limited web access and what we can say in blogs/chatrooms.

The free exchange of ideas and information is a good thing, and governments are always afraid of it, even in 'free countries' like ours. What they're really worried about is the power it gives people to organize. Like any other, that power can be put to good or bad use.

It's influence is probably greater than radio, in the US anyway, but not as great yet as television. TV's cumulative decades have had a huge affect on our populace; as an entertainment medium it is deeply embedded in our society. The Web may be catching up quickly, but until everyone is coming home at night and turning on their computer instead, TV still has a niche the Web hasn't filled.

There are those who believe that the use of the Internet to spread disinformation makes it more dangerous than beneficial. I believe, with such a wealth of information available, it's nearly always possible to figure out what's true and what isn't if you want to. Those who choose not to do so have their own reasons for what they want to believe, so it doesn't matter how much information they have available to them. That's an aspect of human nature all the computers in the world won't change.

The web is a great place where the grass roots people can have dialogue! I really enjoy seeing these conversations whether I agree with what people are saying or not.

What some people have to say is scarey, but it's better to have it out in the open and for them to get feed back on their views. It is a great place for personal growth for those who are ready for it and for those that are not, I hope it at least raises the right questions for them.

All of us here, are from different backgrounds and we might never even talk with each other under normal circumstances. Control and isolation, lack of education are part of the way that the public gets manuvered. So yes, this is a form of activism, peaceful activism, healthy activism! It is all expanding. Watch, there will be moves to clip our wings!

Long may we rage!

The web has more influence since it is interactive, so we need to think about what we are doing, even gaming. Radio and television are mind-numbing. one just sits and has to accept what is handed out. Communication is essential to any type of perceived threat to a paranoid gov't. That is why they are monitoring E-mails as heavily as they are. (Hi, guys!!)
