And if it wasn't your birthday, then it can be a different occasion. Like a wedding, Turkey Day, x-mas, new years, etc.

I thought the answer were going to be tragic, but these were just depressing. I can't pick one, so I have to put this to vote.

My 27th -- It should also have been my fifth wedding anniversary but instead my divorce was close to finalizing (he filed when he found out I would never have children and paused to let me know that he had been cheating on me for quite some time as well) and I was still recovering from major surgery and praying that we would find that it wasn't cancerous.
On a more positive note, my doctors and I learned it wasn't cancerous and I'm now happily unencumbered by someone undeserving of me. :)

My Grandfather passed on my Birthday. His would of been 2 days later.

this Xmas.... My brother died two weeks before the Xmas. He was such a happy and funny boy. Everything was filled by himself.... It was the worst Xmas because it was without him.. everyone cried and was very sad... I wish he was here........

My 21st. My best friend was younger so she could not go out. She stayed home and was raped. I wish I had stayed home.
