im12 and i had it since i wuz 11

This really depends on each child since every one matures differently. If they have been proven to be responsible then yes, but only for emergencies or contacting parents. I gave my daughter one when she was 15 and she has done very well. Disney has a phone that parents can control who their child calls and receives calls from. That sounds pretty good for parents.

It depends on how responsible the kid is. If s/he's likely to lose/break it, or run up a huge bill, then no. If s/he will only use it for emergencies and talking to close friends a few minutes now and then, then maybe.

I think a cell phone if she is being dropped off at movies is ok, or going to mall, or if she needs a ride home from practice. otherwise they would abuse it.

YUP i just couldn't live without mine. I'm 12 and have had it since i was 10.
