The House of Lords has blocked legislation - and given the government a bloody nose.

There is a huge amount of bad legislation getting through Parliament that should have been blocked by the House of Lords in the past. Do you think the House of Lords will reassert itself in reviewing and amending badly framed legislation ?

Yes, but in the long run it is suicide. If they get too aggressive, they will just appoint more Labour peers. Best to save was prerogatives that remain for the right moment.

We don't need to try to run the English parliment. We can't even get our own congress to stop the nonsense and tend to business instead of working on self aggrandizement and trying to garner votes for the next election or next highest post. We have plenty of beams such as Ted Kennedy in our own eye.
