That is because Ebay Sellers were getting too many complaints from buyers about the merchandise they were selling.
Sellers got smart and decided to include the advantages to buying from their site.
Some people are allergic to tobacco, pet scents, and dust. Therefore they want to know that the items they are buying are free of these scents and odors. Some Ebayers leave there stuff lying around where animals and cigarette smoke can get on the merchandise. This is not acceptible to some buyers and most dont want to see Cat or dog hairs on the coat they just bought.

An Ebay seller can not really lie about this comment on their site. If they do it would backfire when the merchandise arrives and the buyer is mad. They can get bad feedback and ruin their Ebay reputation. Why take that risk?

Probably not, I think that if people bought toys or clothes that are a bit stinky they would kick up a fuss and the vendor would lose their reputation. Interesting to know if it puts buyers off, when they don't state that in the add - especially if they're selling something highly collectible.

The same reason why everyone on a dating website is a slim, athletic, gorgeous nymphomaniac.
