I have a sunny balcony, and lots of pots and plants. Is there any way I could create my own compost?

Yes you can if you have enough room and enough scraps, grass, leaves, twigs, paper, etc to Start one. Most compost requires at least a 3 foot high pile to work correctly (if you do the hot compost method) You can do the cold compost method it requires more time but you have the same results. I would buy a book or research on line and decide which method would be better for you and go from there. You can always give your extra compost away you would be surprised at the number of people who will take it! Good Luck. I prefer the hot method but it is tricky getting the right combination of products as well as water to work but once you get the combination down you can't beat the results!

Yes, there are compact composters available that you could have on your patio BTW compost when "fed" properly does not smell. You will want to have a plan for emptying it though.

Sure. Any large container will do. But if you don't have a garden to use the compost in, what's the point?

Yes you can. I have one on my balcony. Just collect all the thing you use that are biodegradable and you have compost.

A 5 gal bucket with a lid will work

Find and mix in a little sawdust as you collect
