I hate when people do that. It seems condescending to me.

Anj me, How are you? It is quite interesting that you asked many question about human psycho and it is good enough that you answer in good way in psycho. It seems that either you are studying in medical with major subject psycho. Oh...I went long. Lets come to your question.
You didn't mention the age of someone who uses your name quite a lot many times during conversation. As per my knowledge more or less the kids under 5 or 6 usually have habit to take your name quite a lot many times to get your attention or need your attention while talking to you. My 3 year old sons have this habit. When I ignored during his talk he used to use word ABBA (Means Father) before starting sentence and after finishing sentence.
May be he is your boyfriend who need your attention and when you are not paying then he want you to frustrate.
May be she is your mother who need your attention to help her to do house work like cooking, washing etc..
May be your children who need your love.
May be your nephew or niece who need your love.
May be your boss who need you to finished assignment before getting late etc...
You are good psycho watcher, you know my points. Don't forget to choose my words as best answer.
Best of Luck.

It usually has 1 of 2 purposes. Either the person is condescending and doesn't think highly of your intelligence or the person likes you, probably in a sexual/romantic way, and they use your name a lot to let you know you have their undivided attention. But even then, it's a little creepy.

2 things. The first is it helps people remember names. The second thing is that its often a technique used to make you like or trust someone. The theory is that people like to hear their names, so if you say it more often, people are more likely to buy what you are selling and to like what you are saying.

It could be a tool the speaker uses to remember your name - it could also be a tool to make sure you are paying attention as most people will refocus when they hear their own name.

You learn someones name faster if you use it right away.
Also, it makes the person being talked to gain trust in the other person.

I would guess that it would be to keep an undistracted direct link with you. To show you that you have their undivided attention.
