I need two good books for about 9th or 10th grade reading level by the same author that can by analyzed and have symbolism, etc. This is for an independent study "book report" and author study.

TUESDAYS WITH MORRIE and THE FIVE PEOPLE YOU MEET WHEN YOU GET INTO HEAVEN both books by Mitch Albom.

FAHRENHEIT 451 and THE MARTIAN CHRONICLES by Ray Bradbury

Also what about short stories? John Steinbeck wrote some beautiful ones "Johnny Bear" and "Chrysanthymums"

What about essays? Anything by Annie Dillard.

I had to read "The Importance of Being Earnest" by Oscar Wilde in the 10th grade, so that is probably an age-appropriate choice. Another great book by the same author is "The Picture of Dorian Gray." Both are very thought-provoking and "Earnest" is quite funny. They'll be good teacher-pleasers. ;)

My first thought has already been taken, Markus Zuzak with "I am the Messenger" and "The Book Thief".

Some others are: Cornelia Funke "Dragon Rider" and "Inkspell"

Susan Cooper for "Over Sea, Under Stone" and "The Dark is Rising"

Laurie Halse Anderson "Speak" and "Catalyst"

THe brothers Karamazov & crime and punishment by fyodor dostoevsky great great books OR i'd suggest The awakening and At Fault

The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants series is always good and has a lot of symbalism.

Watership Down was the best book I ever read. You can also try Redwall.

i dont know about u, but i prefer gary paulsen's books, like hatchet. not sure if they're 9th or 10th reading level, though.
