I think it refers to something thats stuffed in a casing and cooked in that. I had this stuff that was really good, it was potato and meat sausage, you could break it open after cooking it and it made its own meal. Crazy delicious!

I can never tell if you are being serious or whimsical, but there is meatless sausage. One brand that makes it is Boca. It uses Soy protein, egg whites and other meatless ingredients. I haven't tried it, but I have eaten their meatless hamburger patties. I think sausage refers to the shape, to answer your question. If you want mystery meat, try spam. Who knows what is in that stuff. Do pink hippos eat Italian sausage with their spaghetti?

yes it is ashame to tar the meat sausage with the same brush as the veg one as the veg ones are horrid!

oh so i tried one of those veggie(Boca) sausages(he he) and ummmm, it was so nasty i threw it and the dog that was at the park didn't even eat it!
