Can a crime of sexual abuse be prosecuted without physical evidence?

yes.
a pyschological exam could be most revealing
esp crimes against children

certain reactions in children would indicate that they have been raped,
for example, if a child suddenly wets themselves when they see a certain person, that would raise many questions.
there are others, but I am not an expert.

Yes. It's more difficult, but a psychological evaluation can turn up evidence of abuse, as well as a victim's testimony.
