Get them to sign a no compete clause. Let them get about 6 months worth of business in the pipe then cut them and spread the sales and new business across existing employees? How do you get around that?

Through my 20 years of experience in sales , if someone is producing at a decent level the company would be hurting themselves by cutting you loose.

Non competes usually don't come into play until you leave, & are most often associated w some type of compensation from the company in return.

Your only real defense is being very careful about what you sign, & have an employment law attorney review the document if you have any reservations about something you are signing off on.

You could also attempt to get some type of documented policy regarding the firm's policy on termination of salespeople. Good Luck !!
