I shave but that leaves stubble and itches, I would like to have a nice smooth feel but don't want some stranger looking at me and touching me there so I plan to do it myself. Any suggestions are appreciated.

Be REALLY careful and follow directions EXACTLY as the are written. It will be painful, but check out the Internet for some post-wax pain tips. I use Sally Hansen's All-Over body wax hair removal kit. I wax my legs and whatever else needs waxed with this stuff. It works well, but not as well as a professional. It does work better than shaving, and the hair grows back finer. It also doesn't itch as much because the hair removed by the root rather than the surface. It lasts longer than shaving too. The stubble isn't scratchy either. It's about $10 at a drugstore. If you want to spend a little bit more, I hear Nads is good stuff too. It's about $20.

Honestly...I would go to a spa to have a brazilian. It's really not as embarrassing as you would think. It is really hard to give yourself a brazilian (I know this from experience). Also, I swear that the wax that you can purchase is different from the salon wax. It is really difficult to pull off the wax on your own...who wants to hurt themself? If you are set on doing it yourself there is a brazilian waxing kit sold at most drugstores. It is a white tub with pink writing on it. Avoid the sugar wax, it doesn't stick as well. Also, get one that comes with waxing strips. The ones that say that you don't need the waxing strips are not as effective. Also, even if you have a brazilian it is still a little bumpy, but shave over that and it will be very smooth. Just wait a couple of days to shave. You can have irritations for up to three days. Make sure to apply lots of baby powder before waxing. There is also a lidocaine cream that you can buy to make it hurt less. When I had a professinal brazilian the lady told me to take 2 advil prior to the waxing. It helped.

Pleeeeease have a professional do your bikini wax. They know what they are doing and they do it well. Have a friend or family member recommend a salon to you. You can even wear your bathing suit if it makes you feel more comfortable. Don't do it yourself - you'll be sorry. Save up your pennies & go to a professional!

Plucking (tweezing), Shaving, Depilatory creams and Waxing are temporary hair removal methods.
Waxing usually lasts for 3 weeks, but it is painful.

Ask for a professional first! I got a Brazilian wax last year and sworn never again!..OMG that thing hurts like crazy!...I did it once out of curiosity and never ever ever again...Shaving every 3 days does it for me..can't take that again ... :-( Good luck!

I would leave that up to a pro. You don't want to get nasty irritations and all that jazz that can come from the wrong products, inexperience, etc.

There are several products marketed specifically for that purpose. Go to a good drugstore and read some labels carefully.
