Ok, So first of all once you hook up the netgear by ethernet to your computer and modem you can make sure its working by going into the command prompt. Start > Run > type in "cmd".

When you get there type in "ipconfig" your looking for a default gateway. If it shows as a 192.168.*.* then your good, type whatever shows up in your address bar in ie. If not and the default gateway is a 169.*.*.* then make sure everythings enabled on your ethernet card and everything is installed correctly as far as your ethernet card.

Once you log into your modem you should be able to access the internal settings and make sure everythings good to go as far as your wireless settings. You'll look for an essid aka wireless network name and a wep key aka security code to log into your network once you unplug the ethernet.

Or if you've already set this all up, or even once you do set this up. Power cycle both modem and router and when you bring it back up you should be good to go. DO NOT RESET!!! just turn it off and then back on again. :-)

I had the same problem, i have high speed internet via my local cable company. My account (on their end) was set up by default for a wired router and i had to call them so they could change some settings on their end for my wireless router to work. Try giving tech support an call to see if the problem is on their end before you start messing around with your router.

Tricky, you probably need to enter the static IP addresses on your pc under networking in control panel.
Does your PC have a wireless card by the way?

Maybe you could update your question with what operating system you're using and whether the router came with an installation disk?

I had a similar problem. I had to call tech support at my internet service provider. They walked me through the appropriate settings.

Try this

We have one and we have to log into the router - the default password is usually admin
