Well, more specifically the ganges..If i go to india I would very much like to go to the ganges not so much for religious purposes for i am not hindu-but for personal spiritual release that is not tied to mans religion-anywaysss I know they're working on getting all the pollutants out of there does anyone know how polluted it is-can one still dip into the waters or should i just bottle up a small bit to take with me...you are allowed to bottle a bit can't you not much but kind of like they bottle holy water for catholics?

Hey, anywhere in India and in any holy river including ganges you can fill in as many bottles as you like and take a holy dip.
Specially talking of varanasi for all your acco needs visit this link
http://www.indiahotelreview.com/destination_varanasi.htm .
You can also query experts about same.
And definitely you are allowed to bottle , regarding pollution I will say the condition is still not good while on other side it is not so bad also that you will fall ill after taking a holy dip.
njoi ganges in benares and its spiritual feel its worth it. bbye

I do no how polluted Ganga in Varanasi, but one thing is sure ,the doctors business is very hopeless there , so the water can not be harmful at all,you can collect as much you want ,or you can dip into.

if you need clean ganga ,u go to Rishikesh ,or Hardwar
