Yes, that is in order of largest to smallest. There are 1024 MB per GB, so the 2 GB the same thing as 2048 MB.

For processor speed, the higher the GHz, the faster the processor. (Be careful here, though, because not all processors are created equal. A 2.0 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo is far superior to an Intel Celeron D 2.0 GHz. Generally speaking, the processor superiority scale is as follows:)

Intel Core 2 Duo, AMD Athlon 64 X2 (AMD Turion 64 X2 for laptops)
Intel Core Duo
Intel Pentium 4, AMD Athlon 64
Intel Pentium M (Laptops), AMD Turion 64 (Laptops)
AMD Sempron, Intel Celeron

As for hard disk size, the higher the number of gigabytes (GB), the more storage space. For general pictures, music, and web browsing, 160GB should be sufficient for a desktop machine. 250GB or more allows room for growth, but you can always stick with 160GB for now and add in another hard drive later when you need it. If this is a laptop you're talking about, however, look for an 80-120GB drive. Keep in mind that you can always use a USB external drive as well.

First of memory. 2gb is the biggest, and the smallest goes to like...32mb. Theres probably smaller, but thats the smallest I have seen. Its definetly not for good computers, 256mb is the smallest I would put in, but I would put in 4x 256mb.

If you want a good comuter, and only want 2gb, check the motherboard, if theres 4 slots, put 4x 512mb ram in, if theres 2, put 2x 1gb in. But, you have to also check out the motherboard. See if it can handle 2 gigs, see if it can run that much efficiently...etc. Just do research on the motherboard to determine what you want.

My motherboard supports 8gb, so I have 4x 1gb in, cause thats all I really need for what I do. 4gb of ram is way more then enough. 2gb is slowly becoming what you need, especially with Vista.

The processor is also something that depends on what you want. There single core, dual core, quad core. If you get a single core that is 3.8ghz, itll be faster then a dual core thats 2.0ghz under most circumstances. But, if you have alot of programs going, the 2.0 can handle it better cause theres 2 processors. But if you get the Core 2 Duo 2.6ghz, that would most likely be faster then the 3.8ghz single. But, if you go with a 2.6ghz amd 4800 (Or whatever the ghz are for that processor), it will run faster then a 3.8 ghz single core. From what ive read, the 4800 is equivalent to what a 4.8intel would be if they existed. So, it all depedns on what you want.

If you want a computer that has alot of photos and music, you won't really need a mass amount of ram or processing power. And the hard drive is mostly what will matter. If you want alot of Music, probably a 200gig would be good. But partition it when you add windows to about, 40gig and 160gig. (Which will be more like 40gig and 140gig cause the amount you think your getting is actually less, my 200gig drive registers at like...184gig)

Surfing the internet doesnt run faster if you have a faster computer, it depends on the internet connection. DSL runs just as fast on a pentium 2 as it does on a pentium 4. But a faster computer will obviously load the browser faster.

Generally speaking . . . the larger the number, the better (in all things). With the processor, however, be aware that manufacturers produce different grades. For example, a 2.0 GHz Pentium will perform significantly better than a 2.0 GHz Celeron. Likewise, AMD's Athlons are superior to Semprons of the same speed.

If you're doing videos and photos, I recommend getting the largest hard drive you can afford.

2 GB stands for Two Gigabytes. Megabytes (MB) are much smaller. (1000 MBs= 1 GB!)

I didn't know they made 4 GHZ processors, but those are fastest. (Gigahertz=GHz)

Hard Drive=999 Gb would be best. That's near a Terabyte, 1000 gigabytes.

Yes 2 GB of memory is the most and 4GHz is the fastest speed. 500GB -999GB is the most memory but most memory but i prefer two 250GB - 500GB disks because if one disk breaks than all the info on the drive will be lost. Also, if more memory is needed then using RAID 0 to make 2 hard disk work as one and use RAID 1 to make them synchronized so if one breaks then there is a back up.

computers are being equipped for quite particular stuff in recent times - gaming, pics, music, artwork, etc. a center of the line workstation which will take care of each and every little thing tremendously lots could have a three gigahertz processor and a minimum of 500 megs of ram - a gig of ram could be extra useful.
