A lot of people who work in medical offices are really overweight. Is this none of my business or should I expect them to represent good health?

Will that really matter if you are in cardiac arrest? Probably not!

speaking as someone who works in the healthcare field.....thankfully not overweight (yet) but do notice what you mention. a lot of us do tend to graze while we work. that is.....we don't seem to get breaks very often, if ever. we work what is scheduled as a 12 hour shift (get 30 minutes deducted from our paycheck for designated break that we never get) and typically munch on whatever is lying around....usually donuts, or cookies, whatever someone happens to bring in that day. sad but true. then the 12 hours turns into 13, sometimes 16 at worst, because your relief didn't show up and you go home and gorge because, well you are starving and then you crash. not great eating habits. and you are absolutely right to expect them to represent good health. just as you would think the hospitals that make all that money they work in would expect those who take care of the sick and injured, to be rested and fed so that they wouldn't make all those mistakes you hear about in the news. (please exucse the run on sentences....i'm a little burnt out)

people who work in medical offices mostly sit at a computer screen when they're not helping patients. you'd think that they'd be healthier people, but the work is somewhat sedentary. working for doctors is stressfull, too, and they don't always get a lunch, so i bet that there's a lot of fast food ordered in. Healtcare is a stressful field. when I worked at a nursing home, a lot of us smoked, even though we were around old folks dying of emphesema all the time. sad really

I've wondered this too. I think it's the same reason why anyone is overweight. Laziness and gluttony. No discipline, lack of self control. Losers.
