SR20 doesn't clairify what motor from Nissan actually. SR20DE is a motor from Nissan used in many chassis. Now the SR20DET is, again used in many vehicles besides what "ricers" believe as only the Silvia from Japan. The SR20DET is used in the Nissans:
Bluebird
Pulsar
180SX
Silvia
Avenir
Liberty
and the R'nessa
Some, but not all have been release here in the United States. But again, the swap is possible. Yet it would be possible, hard, completely custom, but possible. Thing is, is the SR20DET is used mainly for RWD which will extend your transmission further down under the vehicle. Then, you would have to tunnel the entire length of the vehicle for the drive shaft. Then your going to have to construct a complete rear end for the rear differential and re-enforce the rear complete to handle the shock torque loads because im sure your not going to easy off the line every day and never go full throttle.
Now if you pick the front wheel drive platform, there would be CV shafts that likely won't be able to be used. The motor mounts...People say "Custom Motormounts" like thats all you need to do. And it is all you need to do. But you have to be sure that the motor on a custom swap, alike yours, is going to line up without a slightest degree of being off. Then comes the ECU. Your ECU usually runs everything in the car, like the tumbler, ignition, timing, and even your headlights. Being that you'd be using a Nissan ECU to run diagnostics of the motor, you'd need to find a way to run all other componets for your sub-computers.
My point is, is the allowable resources with your allowable income might prevent you to complete this project. If your just looking for a motor swap, you'd have to look deep when going out of your way of an entire different motor. A Honda swap(LS, K20, B18 etc), yes would be simplest, if not most reasonable when dealing with your wallet. But if the pocket is deep enough I wouldn't complain be worried about your question, "Is it possible."
(Top Secret: From Japan: Pulled their JZ2 and swapped it with a RB26DETT. Nissan motor into a Toyota....but they have what seems to be unlimited finances)

Yes: BUT You'll have to change out the wiring harness, the pcm, you'll have to fab some mounts, and you'll have to put take the 90 trans with it. It's likely at that point you'll have to change out the hub because the CV axles won't fit right. They might even be too short so you may have to ghetto rig it. It will take so long and it will be so aggravating you'll want to dive off a cliff. It's not worth it. Go to the salvage yard and buy a motor for the 92-95. You can get one for 500 or less. Just make sure you put a timing belt on it. Don't try this unless you are an experienced mechanic. You can destroy the engine if you mess up. A good mechanic can rip out the old motor, switch the parts over to the longblock, seal/slap on some gaskets, and install it in a day. Good Luck!

Isn't that a Nissan motor? I'm pretty sure it is. It will probably fit since it's a 2 liter which isn't much bigger than the Civic's standard 1.5 (give or take a few hundred ccs given which model you have). Just make sure you have adaquate cooling for the turbo, and I personally would make sure to fit an intercooler. Good luck, you'll certainly have a unique car.

umm, first off, the sr20de is out of a nissan sentra. add a turbo and you get the "t". and second, it would be foolish to swap in a nissan motor to a honda. if your looking to boost your car, do it the right way. by a good solid motor from honda. it doesnt necessarily have to be a vtec. it can be an LS motor. like a B18A1. their blocks are pretty stout, and can handle about 300 hp, with stock internals. if your looking to really go, then look into a K20, or an H22, these motors built right, can push an amazing amount of power. if you need any more help, go to www.superhonda.com

Wow, that would be very original! A nissan motor in a civic; I like it! That thing'd be FAST! My guess is that you'll need custom motor mounts, as well as numerous other parts. Good luck with this project, and if you complete it, don't crash it!
