I really do not "understand" it, but here is my theory: When Desmond turned the fail safe key in the hatch, he somehow got sent to his own past, where he relived some of it, even if he could somehow sense the present (sounds, images, deja-vu). There he learned that he could not change fate.. or could he? He starts to remember things and recognizes that he is in the past and when he realizes this, he gets hit by a cricket bat and is sent back to the present/future. But now he has this new ability to still see "flashes" of the future, and that is why he knows what happens before it happens. This make any sense?

go the the Lost message boards at ABC.com. You may get some theories and answers. I know, I thought it was a little confusing also, but I tell you, it was one of the best episodes because I like that Desmond character. He is the most mysterious person to me.

I dont ever really understand it. Think it was saying that Dessies fate was to go to the island and push the button and somehow save mankind. Whatever he tried to do he would end up there cos that was his fate. Maybe it is the same for everyone on the island. Hope charlie doesnt die tho!!!!!!

I think that Desmond is having a sort of 'Groundhog Day' experience, but instead of reliving the one day over and over again, he is reliving his experiences on the island and the time immediately before he was stranded..

In england it was the one where desmond went back in time (kinda). It was just a huge load of flashbacks and mroe questions. Still not bad though.

You've lost me. What's Lost? Is it underneath the sofa? Are you sure it really is lost?
