I know that doing this is not supported by sprint, but I know it can be done. Has anyone done it and what are the steps.

Thanks in advance.

I am guessing this is what you are trying to accomplish (please update your posting if I'm incorrect):
1. You have a laptop with a working Sprint broadband wireless card and a built-in ethernet connection. You are able to connect to the internet using the Sprint card.
2. You have a Linksys wireless router that does not have any internet connection.
3. You wish to connect the Linksys router to your laptop to allow you to share the Sprint broadband connection with others via the Linksys wireless router.

This is technically possible, and is the basis of 'mobile hotspot' devices (see the www.evdoinfo.com link below). As you already discovered, this configuration is not supported by the wireless broadband vendors.

I have not done this, but I'm guessing you will need to do the following.
--Configure your laptop to share the internet connection. In Windows 2000 and XP, this is the Internet Connection Sharing (ICS) service. See the two support.microsoft.com links below. You can also use a third-party product like Proxyplus.
--Verify ICS is working. Using one of your other computers, connect its wired ethernet port to your laptop's ethernet port. Troubleshoot any problems you encounter and test various applications. ICS does not play nice with all applications.
--Disconnect your computer from the laptop and connect the router's WAN port to your laptop's ethernet port. If you do not get a link light, you may need a cross-over ethernet cable.
--Verify the configuration of the router. The WAN port should have picked an IP address from the laptop, which functions as a DHCP server. However, the IP address issued (likely in 192.168.0.x range) may conflict with the IP addresses the router wants to issue to computers connected to the 802.11 wireless and wired ports using DHCP. You may need to modify your wireless router to issue IP's in a range like 192.168.1.x.

Note, you could connect your laptop to one of the LAN ports on the wireless router. In this case, you must disable the DHCP server on the router, allowing your laptop to issue IP addresses to your computers and function as the default router to the internet.

--Connect your computers to the wireless router. I suggest trying wired connections first to work out any kinks before trying to configure wireless connections.

My impression was that sprint cards didn't require a router somehow. I'm not too sure, but either way set it up wired first and make sure you're online with an ethernet connection. Usually Linksys can set you up that way and will even provide help getting online with youre sprint card!
