was the US military so successful killing/capturing all those terrorists, a few years ago, in Afghanistan which has the same very rugged terrain as western Pakistan? If the US military did such a good job with the terrorists in Afghanistan they should be able to do the same in Western Pakistan.

It's not about terrain. We operated in Tora Bora which is the exact same.

It's a matter of politics and alliance with Pakistan. We can't go into Pakistan without the approval of Musharraf. His soldiers are slowly gaining ground in that fight, though. That province is dangerous not only to his troops but to his power as the leader.

There is more keeping the US from Pakistan than just the terrain, if US goes into Pakistan, there is no going back meaning that any possible help or alliance they could possible be able to gain from Pakistan will be completely lost if they go in.

There are many factors that play out on the theater of war. There are elements that are not disclosed for protection of the soldiers. Everyone in such a hurry to call this a loss and it isn't over yet. This situation in the Middle East is a tricky one. There is no definitive strategy.

Could it be that it's Pakistan and not Afghanistan or Iraq. Don't ya think that maybe we might have to work with the existing government of Pakistan or are you advocating that we go to war with Pakistan now.

Might want to take a step back there and realize that Pakistan is a nuclear power with very unstable politics. But hey if you want terrorists with access to nuclear weapons be my guest.

I agree. The main reason is that they can't just "brow-beat" the Pakistani government into submission like they did in Iraq. I'm not saying that its not a good thing that they outed their regime, just that they couldn't do the same thing again.

Bush has an excuse for everything - but it only takes half a brain cell to realize he is FULL OF CRAP. (problem is, the only thing that conservatives are good at conserving is the use of their brain).
